Stuffed -- and stuffed up!

I am all stuffed-up today and at work. This is wrong. Plus, they ("they") are forcing me to WORK while at work, so it's doubly wrong. Urgh.

I did have a very nice weekend before the Attack of the Sinuses invaded; I saw all of the Oscar-nominated animated shorts and live-action shorts and that was very fun indeed. I highly recommend doing this if you can! So much fun -- and you'll be so far ahead in any office Oscar pool! My favorites were "Badgered" about a Badger who just wants to sleep and "Out of Time" about a psychologist who finds he has only 6 weeks to live. Ursula, Tara, Wendy and her new beau Jamie were at the screening as well. Went for yummy Italian afterwards with Tara and Ursula.

Sunday I froze my ever-expanding arse off going into Manhattan to meet Holly for tea. Delicious tea can be had at Podunk in the East Village, people. Everyone should go -- immediately. Then had yummy vegetarian food at Counter -- I would seriously be a vegetarian if I could there every day! They also have delicious organic cocktails (seriously!) wine, and beer. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer.

And how could I forget the delicious dinner Wayne and I had on Friday at Clinton St. Baking Company! Delectable crab cakes and a muy delicioso cava that was a sparkling pinot noir! I have the name written down -- must find and buy cases of, if possible.

I have really eaten well this weekend! After this Fat Tuesday, I am going along with Lent for a time and trying to really cut back. Must excercise, yadda yadda yadda.

Dueling Grandpas

My co-workers are having an impromptu contest to see which of their grandfathers is the coolest. Jennifer's was married to Vivian Vance, the actress who played Ethel Mertz on "I Love Lucy". Rhonda's was a tailor in Denver who once measured Mae West.

I piped up with, "Mine couldn't read and he used to spit tobacco on the carpet because he didn't like his spitoon."

I win.

Thank you, Abe and George!

...for a lovely long weekend! Sadly, it's the last one left until -- gasp -- Memorial Day! Use your sick days wisely, people. It's now entered the season of "migraines" and "sinus headaches". (Apologies to those who are actually suffering from those ailments now. They just make the best excuses!) Kudos to ML for a very funny performance in "All About Boobies". Is that the correct title? I think it should be, if it's not.

Thanks to Pam for a fun Saturday night that extended into a sleepover! I managed to put away a goodly portion of her coconut rum and take with me many toiletry items from the Bellaggio from her impromptu tag sale (or giveaway, I should say). It was a fun night -- full of cocktails, Thornbirds, and karaoke. You can't ask for a better night!

Yesterday I had a great time at Ursula's watching some Olympic (I mean, of course, Ohhhhhh-lympic) ice skating on her HDTV. Got to spend time with Pam and Amy, too -- plus a speaker-phone conference with Tara. Plus, some heavy petting with Jasper and Julie. (Julie's so lovely, Julie's so smart....) Thank you, Ursula for the yummy wine and for having such smart and lovely kitties!

Pandas!

Everyone should take a look at Tai Shan, the baby panda at the National Zoo in Washington. Although at the moment, it's mostly showing his mom, Mei Xiang, sleeping. It's very peaceful right now. Earlier, it was showing Tai Shan trying to get to sleep and he was kicking and scratching to beat the band. Of course, my coworker pointed out, they're sleeping on rocks! Can't the National Zoo spring for a Tempurpedic? Cheapskates.

Olympic Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs

Did anyone watch the men's free skate last night? Seriously disappointing. This new system just rewards jump after jump after jump -- it's sooooooooo boring! There is no choreography -- every skater's interpretation of artistic impression seems to involve only flailing their arms around. It looks like they're all catching baby birds and then releasing them -- over and over and over. Even the costumes are dullsville. Where is Rudy Galindo when you need him?

And, most importantly, What Would Brian Boitano do?

1st post!! Includes toilet "humor"!!

OK, this is my first post ever in the blogosphere! (Did I really just use that word? Ugh.) Excitement abounds.

This morning, going to use the ladies' room, I had to walk to the last stall because all others were occupied. The actual excited thought that went through my head: "Wow! I hardly ever use this toilet!"

That's how you know it's going to be a good day, people.
